Here is an exercise (See the following tables in Arabic and English). It was originally conceived for my Arabic students. However, I believe that all language students would benefit from it, in order to succeed in their studies, make progress, pass their exams, etc., by only converting into positive their negative attitude and inner dialogue or self-talk. It is as simple as that. Don’t question. Just do the exercise. Don't say 'I don't believe in that stuff’'. This is what I said to myself a long time ago, But I tried it anyway. It cost me nothing to test it, and, surprisingly, it worked. It is nothing like a placebo, which is effective only if you believe in it. It is like an active drug, which is effective whether you believe in it or not.
(*) Placebo: a sugar, an inert pill. given to an unsuspecting patient instead of an active drug.
ORIGIN late 18t cent.: from Latin. Literally ‘I shall be acceptable and pleasing’, from placere ‘
